Continental Divide
sitting here
struggling
with
geography
reading
your verse
it is as if
you are here
sometimes
closer than here
(when it feels like
you are inside my head)
frustratingly unable
to embrace
kiss
caress
in my mind
you are
cradled
in my arms
but
in my arms
you are
not
wondering
what would it
be like
to meet
would we be
immiscible
like oil
and water
or
would we blend
emulsified
like an intricate
spicy sauce
as i sit here
struggling
with
geography
i stroke
velvet fur
Matisse The Cat purrs
contentedly present
i’ll settle for that
