Spirits of Time
Once this used to be our land
But you banished us with a wicked hand
Made us live where nothing would grow
And forced to freeze out in the snow
Made us sick with tainted cloth
You tried so hard to kill us off
Poisoned us with liquid fire
Then wished us to call you sire
Forced us to walk many miles
With hands bound and no more smiles
Cut our hair in white mans school
Over our lives you tried to rule
Our voice you tried silence
But that only ended in violence
Our language you said was foul
But the wolf in us will forever howl
One day your time will expire
And we'll still be sitting around our fire
Telling tales of things in past
The ghosts that once thought they'd last
Our roots run deep to the heart of the land
try and remove us but forever we'll stand
When mother earth decides its time
We'll end with her and our spirits will shine
But you banished us with a wicked hand
Made us live where nothing would grow
And forced to freeze out in the snow
Made us sick with tainted cloth
You tried so hard to kill us off
Poisoned us with liquid fire
Then wished us to call you sire
Forced us to walk many miles
With hands bound and no more smiles
Cut our hair in white mans school
Over our lives you tried to rule
Our voice you tried silence
But that only ended in violence
Our language you said was foul
But the wolf in us will forever howl
One day your time will expire
And we'll still be sitting around our fire
Telling tales of things in past
The ghosts that once thought they'd last
Our roots run deep to the heart of the land
try and remove us but forever we'll stand
When mother earth decides its time
We'll end with her and our spirits will shine
