Monarchy
Many countries, especially in Europe
Are still ruled by a monarch though the real powerrs
Lie with their parliaments.
Commonwealth countries are of course
Ruled by (now) the King.
Some may think ''why don't t you get rid of that system?''
Why not? And replace it with a presidential system
À la Trump? Or à la Putin?
Of course I might ask some americans
Why they don't amend the 2A.....
Not asking you to change your entire form of government
Just a line or two in an amendment
But asking the question............
And you are looking for a civil war.

A few weeks ago a few NFL type hopefuls (including a Manning nephew) and their families were invited by some college in Texas (A&M? I don't remember). It was mentionned that alcool would be available for the adults. Not for the kids. No mention about AR-15s.

Definitely thought provoking. (Thank you) I have read articles by both academics and journalists about having a Congressional Convention.The biggest worry, expressed by both the left and right is the entry is to tinker with one thing but then it becomes a force that can't be stopped, especially when you think of some of these people who tried to storm the Capitol and how federal Congress people are defending them. I heard one lawmaker suggest going back to the indirect method of placing US Senators. I find that to be repugnant.

And (from Canada) what I find even more ridiculous is the Electoral College. Why bother with elections? In the end they decide. Not the people............

I should go and read the whole business of the electoral college again. It may have been a good thing at the time of the musquets or whatever but today it is a joke. Some people will say that the concept is still good, otherwise the most populous states, like California would always get to choose who is president, the much smaller states, like the Dakotas having zero chances.
PS: you also have states (especially GOP states) where the leaders do everything they can to deny Blacks the possibility of voting (terribly long lines, number of voting boots limited and few and far between...........etc)

The very wealth have influence over many of our representatives. It’s insane how some who were in Congress go to worry as lobbyists because there’s so much money involved. The electoral college is a also a sham, they also come with Gerrymandering and other techniques so as to sway votes in districts and all that. It’s quite frustrating.
