Image for the poem dream property prancer

dream property prancer

the aura of the garden is stunning
statues like marble gods are sunning

this wildly familiar dream home
predictably finds me happily alone

with round hills rolling off in the distance
a sense of peace brings easy indifference

i return here in those vivid dreams
far more real than they might seem

while it’s clear that everything crumbles
an obsession with smooth can make me stumble

this realm of mine soothes and reminds
there’s more behind what meets the eye

i pray to live there when i die
to say i’m ready would be a lie

yet i go there in my mind
i look around for meaningful signs

when there’s a question i can’t answer
i summon the mythical Reindeer Prancer

last seen with Rudolph and Selfless Santa
his Medal of Valor effervescent like Fanta

he’ll find the Sprites of the Northern Lights
performing their colorful show each night

he’ll drop their truth at dream’s front door
i’ll stop obsessing about what it’s all for
