I still see the shadow of your face
Sometimes I forget you're dead
I wonder how you're doing
notice I haven't seen you around
for a while
and then I remember
I remember the time that's passed
and how I miss seeing your face
even during the times I hated you
because you've always been familiar
in a self destructive sort of way
that reminds me that I'm better
than the lives we lived
and that we're better
than the way you died
though you didn't stick around
long enough to realise
you're more than a series
of bad days
and that being lost
at the bottom of a bottle
isn't the only way to fight
the demons that crow too loudly
in the middle of the night
