Eternal Return
you who are adorned
why have you chosen me
so many years have passed
since I was set spinning in wild circles
dancing like a dervish on beaches
with beacon fires
I always dreamed that I would learn to fly
at that old mountain house set aloft
upon pine and spruce
but only now have I really seen the
vulture perched on rafters, holding the eel in its talon
do you see back into these tired eyes
with so much salt, tossed from
too many waves
beaten upon rocky shores
I have memorized the tired lines of your face
they contain the alchemical map to our liberation
child, I never knew you
robbed from me before we could soar
so why now
and can't you see that I'm in fact still afraid
why have you chosen me
so many years have passed
since I was set spinning in wild circles
dancing like a dervish on beaches
with beacon fires
I always dreamed that I would learn to fly
at that old mountain house set aloft
upon pine and spruce
but only now have I really seen the
vulture perched on rafters, holding the eel in its talon
do you see back into these tired eyes
with so much salt, tossed from
too many waves
beaten upon rocky shores
I have memorized the tired lines of your face
they contain the alchemical map to our liberation
child, I never knew you
robbed from me before we could soar
so why now
and can't you see that I'm in fact still afraid
