Obnubilations
Black branch against the night cloud gray
Block not the crescent moon tonight
But tame instead the angry day
When solar beams accost my sight.
Leave me my eyes for midnight love
Where orbs of heaven gently glow
Through the ecliptic path above
The shadow dilettantes below
Who prefer their daylight strength by half,
Like morning and twilight glory,
And think the zenith sun some gaffe
Whereby hunters roast their quarry
Under Apollo's convex glass
Brought to bear upon Mother Earth
To see the sun affect her mass
Or alter her intrinsic worth
Which should, like the night, be crystal clear...
To more than just a sonneteer!
Block not the crescent moon tonight
But tame instead the angry day
When solar beams accost my sight.
Leave me my eyes for midnight love
Where orbs of heaven gently glow
Through the ecliptic path above
The shadow dilettantes below
Who prefer their daylight strength by half,
Like morning and twilight glory,
And think the zenith sun some gaffe
Whereby hunters roast their quarry
Under Apollo's convex glass
Brought to bear upon Mother Earth
To see the sun affect her mass
Or alter her intrinsic worth
Which should, like the night, be crystal clear...
To more than just a sonneteer!
