The skeptical dialectical
Observed as a newer year befell
All around the apoplectical
Witlessly refashioning hell
From some hopeless wanton state
Which no one really wants to see,
Into another graceless fate
Where doom is just as doomed can be!
But ape-o-plectics can be saved
With compassion by committees!
How else will future paths be paved
On shining hills or shining cities?
And that's how midnight sonneteers
Fear for all of their newest years!
