I DON'T WRITE POETRY, POETRY WRITES ME

DIRECTION

Like the dry grass
and low river banks
need fresh water,
I thirst for the fresh
gift from my Muse
who graciously chooses
to allow me to copy
what she writes in
my heart, soul, and spirit.
I learned years ago
that I don't write poetry,
poetry writes me.
It starts by taking control
of my thoughts, emotions,
and hunger. The words,
grammar and syntax
take me to a new, beautiful,
old, and challenging places.
Poetry writes me into scenes
of new erotic behavior, into
courage to break the old
self-inflicted and taboo
no, nos; to allow bindings
with things, I'd never choose.
Poetry writes words that
stimulate every nerve, passion
and desire in me. WOW!
Meet me at the Kissing
Place and we'll let
poetry write us.
OKAY?
