Rockwell Nostalgia

There’s a Norman Rockwell family,
classic family of four --
They’re smiling aggressively
from the calendar on my door.

The mom looks fairly normal,
perhaps a little tired.
Her pretty smile is well-rehearsed;
she knows it is required.

The dad has secrets in his grin;
his eyes are rather flirty.
I think he’s having thoughts about
the painter, and they’re dirty.

The son is smiling so damn hard
it looks more like a cry.
With one look at his sister,
I have suspicions why.

That kid’s expression is psycho,
like a raving lunatic!
I think she’s giving her brother
a covert pinch or kick.

“The Greatest Joys are Shared”
is the name of this Rockwell ad.
The only thing this family shares
is they’re all a little mad.
