What I Carry - My daughter's poem
A poet said, “We are what we carry.”
I carry brokenness, but with a hope for healing.
I’m often lost, but carry a hope for finding home.
I carry the weight of knowing who I am, but
at times I don’t recognize my own reflection.
I carry a need for solitude, but also desires for love.
I carry a blanket to hide my nakedness, but sometimes
walk bottomless on the sand next to the ocean
where I was born.
