Image for the poem Yes, I

Yes, I'll Show You My Face

In the secret places of the cliff,
Let me see your face,
Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is sweet,
And your face is lovely.”
  -From Song of Solomon

When I read this scripture from my lit. professor,
my knees went weak and the
walls seemed to shake.
Was this part of an assignment?
I looked again and it was a text to me alone.
Before I caught myself, I texted,
“Yes, I’ll show you my face!”
That with a pic was all I said.
Then I thought of the costs.
Would I destroy the
love I now have or
does my text tell me
the love I've known
is already dying?

Author's Note
A poem by my daughter as she deals with adult conflicts. Wish I could spare her. I am thankful she was willing to share this. I know the professor and understand her conflicting emotions.
