Fallen Angel
her brown eyes glisten
like tear-stained glass
shattered and cracked
there are miles it seems
but only feet between
her truth and me
she’s a fallen angel
her shattered halo
falls to pieces to the ground
they starved your body
they stole your wings
they broke your heart
for the most beautiful girl
a goddess on earth
a diamond in the rough
Stand Tall fallen angel
the world is in your hands

Author's Note
This is a poem I wrote for a beautiful soul I met while in a partial hospitalization program. She suffered a lot in her life and I desperately wanted to connect to her. I handed her this poem one morning with my phone number and a note saying that if she ever needs a friend I'm here for her. I hope she finds her way someday <3

The poem itself pulls at the heart, after reading the authors note it became, I don’t even have the words. A selfless act of caring and love of humanity. That’s not what I’m trying to say either. 🙄 sorry for such a clumsy response. I think that single act of kindness was monumental, courageous and truly lovely. H🌷

I really appreciate you taking the time to read the poem. It fills me with such gratitude knowing there are other authors out there that appreciate my work. Im thrilled that my poem effected you so deeply, it certainly effected me while writing it. It took a lot of courage to reach out to her and we still speak to this day. But I believe what I did wasn’t monumental, it was the reason I think we make art- to express the emotions we face in ways that reach and connect to others. Thank you for reaching out to me, it means more than you’ll know that others are honestly effected by my writing. I hope it inspires more small acts of kindness and human connection.
