ODE TO SAMI
That sight of her so caught his eye:
Voluptuous inverted “Y”
Her legs akimbo on the bed
Made as she knelt posing naked –
Except knickers of frilly waist
And blanket by her arms well placed
To cover her breasts, belly, thighs,
Turned away, bed head-facing wise.
Head looking down left shoulder bare,
Other shoulder carries dark hair
That she had brushed towards her right
So her whole back was bare to sight.
Nothing to interrupt the view
He had of every tattoo –
The butterflies on shoulder blades,
Fluttering wings of varied shades,
The symbols of her spirits free
From past sadness and agony.
On small of back a woman, stone,
And star on upper arm alone.
On the facing bedroom wall
In paper the maple leaves fall,
Suggestive of the clothes she shed
Prior to posing on the bed.
Pillows lie openly in wait
For when they lie down as they sate
The appetite that's being stirred
Between the lover and his bird.
