Rain

I stand in the rain in hopes that my tears blend so perfectly they go unnoticed. Water colors mix together to paint a picture that you can’t see with your eyes but only with your heart.
Face turned upward toward the heavens in hopes that you would recognize and come back and wipe them away with a brush of your gentle yet strong hands. I long for your embrace like a dry and thirsty land. Craving your closeness like a warm security blanket
The smell of your old spice that even now brings a smile when I least expect it pushing back the dark clouds filled with gallons of water ready to burst forth at any second, but always kept at bay by memories of you.
I stand in the rain in hopes that my own tears will be completely drowned out so when the sun shines and the rainbow comes out after the storm so will I.
I stand in the rain because it’s the only place where my flow of water isn’t questioned, but welcomed with open arms. Embraced with love, and held with such tenderness that the loss of you doesn’t seem to cut so deep.
I stand in the rain because no judgment lies there in the wetness of His love, but his own heart crying out that I’m not alone. Healing every hurt and empty space with each immersion into the rain. Bringing newness that I have yet to see but know that eventually will come. That place of peace that only the rain can bring .
I stand in the rain so that I live and not die.
