Dancing Now With You - Daughter's Poem

He was just a boy with the body of a man
and saw me as a girl wishing to be woman.

As he held me I thought of the years of nights
I’d danced before my mirror with imaginary men.
They were kind and giving and knew how to please me.

I left them all that night for that boy with the body of a man.
I knew his love would last, so real and full of longing.
But, he drifted on to another girl, as little boys must do.
Wouldn’t he be surprised to see me dancing now with you?

Author's Note
Another poem by my daughter reminded me of my own desires to become a woman. We edited it together. That will be a special memory. She alludes to a new love interest in the last line. I'm sure it's the younger boy she's begun dating. Again, she wants to include her photo.
