my college friend Lou
has a girl crush on me
the reciprocation
causes discord in my brain
two radio stations playing at once
I turn the lezzy one down
glance around
hope no one knows i was listening
Lou is beautiful
like a renaissance woman
benevolently powerful
dominant
(a word I won't understand until later)
i had a dream last night
she tells me
i took your hand
and lifted you into the sky
and we flew together
over the city
i picture it
my heart soars
through nebulous filters
i know exactly what she means
she's just a friend
i tell myself
she's just a friend
forty years later
i'd like to find her

I may not have communicated to you on every poem you've written, but I absolutely read each piece of writing you've shared here on DUP, I'm a total fan and deeply enjoy your style/ form of expression. The uniquely honest and refreshing place you write from is utterly engaging, almost always hitting a nerve and some of the best work I've read in awhile. No bullshit, it really is.
I felt the need to really make you aware of just how much I love, appreciate and revere your work and how grateful I am that you continue to share your talents with us 🙏🏻
