Two-getherness
I will never forget how easy it was for us
to melt into this routine of togetherness
the moment our eyes locked
and you locked me in with a tight bear hug
I felt the ground shift beneath my feet
telling me that life would never be the same again
but with you by my side
'the same' was quickly tossed aside
whether it was your arm around my waist
or my hands in your hair
I remember every moment
every sound
breath
touch
look
and after drowning in a month with you
I learned that leaving you feels like grieving too
to melt into this routine of togetherness
the moment our eyes locked
and you locked me in with a tight bear hug
I felt the ground shift beneath my feet
telling me that life would never be the same again
but with you by my side
'the same' was quickly tossed aside
whether it was your arm around my waist
or my hands in your hair
I remember every moment
every sound
breath
touch
look
and after drowning in a month with you
I learned that leaving you feels like grieving too
