Acceptance, finally…
The realisation came slowly upon me,
Stealthily spreading through like a wave.
Calm acceptance
My mind had found it’s centre of balance.
My adoration and feelings for you,
Not returned,
Now devoid of expectance.
I am sad yet relieved reaching this conclusion.
Our connection remains,
Perhaps will be stronger,
If the heartache has ended.
I’m not even sure if you knew how I felt
But it’s clear to me that more than friendship
Has never been what you intended.
I trust you when say you that you’ll be in my life.
Happy or sad, silly or earnest,
Until we’re both old and grey.
I still care for you deeply,
Yet it is different.
The torch has faded to a soft, gentle glow.
Here ends what my heart’s had to say.
