I Cannot Say It
Do you know?
Look at me, can you read it in my eyes?
Can you feel it in the way I touch your skin?
If I were to give voice to my feelings then it could spell the end.
This fear renders me silent,
This fear is overwhelming.
How do you see me?
Do I cross your mind in times of quiet?
Do you share this unspoken bond?
If I were to tell you of my adoration, you might reciprocate.
A great love could begin,
A great love could unfurl.
What is this connection?
What is this pull that draws me to you?
Does it need to be labelled?
All the paths of my heart always lead me back to you.
Leave things be,
Or set love free?

The powerful emotional outpouring is so moving. Almost tangible and visceral.... The questioning is so very relatable.... I feel this.

Thank you for such a lovely comment. I find it hard to talk about things but when I wrote this I tried to get out how I truly felt in that moment. Being able to do that is powerful in itself.

You beautifully captured an inner struggle of love. Loved the lines, "What is this that pulls me to you? Does it need to be labeled?"

Very relatable...makes me think of a former lover. It was anguish not being able to say it, knowing that if I did, he would no longer be in my life.
