A Christmas Prayer

Come together now, all family and friends
Enemies to peace, bring your strife to an end

Put aside all differences and lay down your arms
Take no further action that damages or harms

Look beyond what your eyes see for appearances can often deceive
Search deep within your soul for what you should truly believe

Within tears that have been cried, is proof of a tender heart
They tell the stories of sorrow in a world falling apart

Let this be a season of love and understanding
Let us find our freedom from a world so demanding

Pray for those who suffer, pray for those in pain
May the misery leave their lives so only happiness remains

This is a time for miracles and we can help them come true
We can help others experience a joy they never knew

We can instill hope and diminish despair
We can prove to those with doubt, that people still care

Angels are not just in Heaven, they’re also here on earth
To enlighten and encourage, to show each person has worth

Look at the homeless, the abused and neglected
These are the people who need to be protected

Not just their bodies, but their hearts and souls as well
We can give them a story they’ll be happy to tell

In this Christmas season, let us pray to The Lord above
That those in need will find faith, hope and love
