In Dreams Ive wanderd far beneath

The sun a subtle whisper made,
A lurid phantom in the sky,
To slip beneath the closing day,
And leave her smile in my mind.

In dreams I’ve wandered far beneath,
The silent flow of dismal time,
And as a prisoner of belief,
I’ve dream’d of loving thee for life.

With shadows in my longing eyes,
I’ve heard the echo of the sea,
And watch’d the vespers in the sky,
Shine their phantom lights on me.

I see that beauty finds thee now,
A noble queen of nature’s realm,
As in fresh springtime’s waking hour,
The daisies blooming on the hill.

Arising, the soothing arms of night,
Shall keep this heart when aching finds,
Thy love a memory in my life,
Without thy soul a part of mine.

So then a spirit solemn makes,
Stone and statue guards the tomb,
That holds the distant precious days,
 Of tender, fragrant, lovers’ youth.

Across the spanning velvet sky,
God unlimits love to all,
Alas! This vagrant soul of mine,
Has yet to know love’s rabid thrall.

To one who’s heart in pinning dies,
Though holding fast his fervent prayer,
Love that gives eternal life,
Shall keep thee ever close to her.
