And elegantly said with few words

interesting line, "satisfying needs"--
there's an ambiguity to that, in the context of what we call "love" as opposed to transaction--
a number of years ago, I was reading a famous memoir about auschwitz--the book had won a prize, etc.
i was familiar with what forche called "literature of witness," so understood, more or less, the import. but i posed the question to myself:
what does the book *teach*--that is, what's the value, beyond an artifact of endurance of evil?
does it have any?
then I realized: one of the things we see in the narrative is humans reduced to bare *need*, the physical above all else.
also: how does the title influence the reader's perspective / experience of the poem?
food for thought.

Sometimes just the slight touch of another human being fulfills that need. A contact. Very basic, I suppose to reassure us that we exist, that we are there......your comments much appreciated, Regards, Robert.
