she carries me
“My beloved is mine and I am his: he feedeth
among the lilies.”—Song of Solomon 2:16
♫a love song for my beloved♫
she carries me
to high places
when in my spirit
close to the earth
i bow
she tarries with me
on dreary nights
when i am
lonely
lost
trembling
in the dark
she gives me songs
like wings
to cool my ire
when all my passions
burn like fire
upon fierce
pregnant kindling
pierced
by human discontent
she gives me kisses
when my lips are wont
to fear and tremble
in the wake of
dissonant utterance
and when my soft tears
rivulet
in confusion
she pools the remnants
of my pride
into her ocean
of compassion
bosoming me
with love
that knows no
rationing
tiding my spirit
where the sun
reclines
outside the confines
of vile expectations
and misplaced
destinies
for she carries me
to better places
than my broken spirit
could attain
left in the dark
alone
to silence
ever prone
