something about this wall

“If you can find a path with no obstacles,
it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.”—Frank A. Clarke

something about this wall
                    o’ershadows me
                    shrouds destiny
                                        i cannot hear life call

some slumber on the breast
                    post-pubic smile
                    too infantile
                                        then slither back to rest

some live a hundred years
                    cleaving the earth
                    līve afterbirth
                                        without the strain of tears

sometimes i beg to die
                    at break of day
                    for no hooray
                                        ignites my morning sky

summer may yet appear
                    when spirits crushed
                    are no more hushed
                                        to some untimely bier
