my son’s getting married next month and he’s asked me to be his best man, which is great, but since my stroke I’ve struggled to speak clearly I’ll let him down

Trust me, your son isn’t thinking about the speech impediment. All he cares about, is being able to share the most important moment of his life, with the most important man in his life !
Everything, will work out just fine, and you’ll look back and wonder why you felt apprehensive.

to be his best man at his wedding, I would have always likely been speechless :)

Congrats. Your presence is primordial. The rest is of very little matter. Go for it....or, sorry, you will severely regret it.
