There's a great scene in the Babet Schroeder film, Barfly, based on Bukowski's script.
In it, the poet says, "Endurance is greater than truth."
How true, what endures becomes Truth, in the end.
In Chinatown, the old man says, "politicians, whores, and ugly buildings all get respectable with age."

I’ll have to look that one up.

It’s interesting because I approached this with the intent of someone I thought should quit, and yet the desire to keep going feels endless.

Fake it ‘til you make it. I like the perseverance of the hero in this poem because, to me, defying odds can pay off big time and it’s worth remembering. I wish you all the best in the comp. H🌷

There’s a lot of folks who overcome obstacles  and circumstances, and it just really depends on determination. I might need to read more books on the subject too.
