I am such a huge fan of this time of year, with Halloween being the 'Crown Jewel'... I often do my own make-up... self taught from the interwebs... lol  I've gotten a few scattered compliments and I've scared a whole lotta folks.. so I think I'm possibly improving... lol.... It comes in handy for cosplay, too... (yes, , I'm a total nerd and proud of it!)

There's a pulse moving through the write, quicksilver, a presence you feel beneath the surface, that brings the images from 2 to 3 dimensions, its the kind of thing I suppose you can teach, but teaching it is like learning to stand, walk, run and fly, it is a natural motion of beingness.

Well, firstly— My smile is Cheshire-Cat-wide.... seeing and reading your return on my page, Daniel... Yay!! Yes, I am THAT delighted to see you and to have your uniquely poignant thoughts and insights to draw upon , once again. You always gave me such terrific ideas and constructive, useful inspiration, that I tried my best to apply; becoming a much better writer, for it. Needless to say, it's not only your killer talents as a poet that were missed but also your kind ways of outreach, extending friendship as well as sharing feedback. No one does that better!! So It's definitely exciting to see and to have a bit of that return!!  


I am not a rhyming poet, so this isn't my my usual style or format of writing....However, me being me, I like try things out and test myself..... So I appreciate your thoughtful comments, the list add and I'm totally over the moon that you had this sense of dimensional pulsation that you were able to feel, just wow!! I aspire (hopefully)to reach that state of 'flying'.... finding my own natural motion.... (lovely analogy!)... which I believe that I'm still trying to solidify...

I tend to exercise economy in my writing when it comes to rhymes, alliterative mostly, for flow and more traditional end line rhymes perhaps for emphasis, perhaps at the end of the write, as a nod to the cyclic nature of things.

As I travel around, I sometimes feel a bit haunted by the fact that we are living in the world, cities, towns, homes, of those who've gone before us, back to the ashes and dust, we walk in their shoes and stand on the shoulders of their accomplishments. I try to let that shadow fall across my writing in various ways, little snatches of well known verse, little nods to the classics.

*sigh* I have no words. Quite simply, I did not think words could be this beautiful and leave me in a state of grace for just reading the words. There is such brutal honesty here in exposing hidden fears that are rendered invisible by yearning and love. My heart melts by the fire this builds in my soul.

it's within the deepest parts of myself that I tap into now....asking, begging release from the pain of incredible loss, a kindred spirit that haunts my thoughts, and still, I cannot shake... he clings to the very fabric of my tattered being.... just out of reach.... out of sight..... but never out of mind.... I am confounded 😖... *sigh

and I don't know what to do.....  floundering  it seems. Writing to myself, a new low....

I enjoyed this write, your presentation, format and rhyme in that stanza flowed nicely.
