A Telling
Shorn of pride
To see was Samson made blind
And daily the rut of a circle tread
A circle's without beginning
A circle's without end
A circle's eternal
And so is the spirit
And from his rounds
Beaten
And mocked in woe
Brought to stand between columns
Two pillars or poles
Two poles with Samson centered made three
The triptych
The gateway
Neath the all seeing eye
Stone work the floor representing the earth
Two pillars
The two trees which stood
Above columns the lintle
(As heavenly vault)
Upon them wind and fire
Fire and water
Sun and moon
Earth, pillars of heaven, the vault
These four formed the square
The doorway
The portal
The passage
Inside which he stood
And God made six
(Go find what this means)
Six the number of man
Six the sides of a cube
Six directions in space
Earthly man, spiritual man
The circle he trod
The square where he stood
The circle squared
Vitruvian man
The earthly must perish
The spiritual to ascend
The hair was the veil
This tale's telling ends
To see was Samson made blind
And daily the rut of a circle tread
A circle's without beginning
A circle's without end
A circle's eternal
And so is the spirit
And from his rounds
Beaten
And mocked in woe
Brought to stand between columns
Two pillars or poles
Two poles with Samson centered made three
The triptych
The gateway
Neath the all seeing eye
Stone work the floor representing the earth
Two pillars
