the earth convalescent
that the earth could be depleted,
like a seething crucible;
that mankind could be defeated,
how incomprehensible!
when God called light out of darkness
and commanded sky and sea,
who could fathom human starkness
earth's new vile reality?
while the earth declared His glory,
all the seas stayed in their place;
no convulsions marred sod story,
nor calm waters lose headspace:
when He sprouted plants and flowers,
fruited trees anthemed His Name,
by Whose all-creative powers
sprang no error and no blame.
greater light to rule the daytime,
that earth's glory might be seen;
lesser lights to govern nighttime,
where the moon and stars convene.
peaceful waters in abundance
nurtured new aquatic life;
in the skies, without redundance,
zero wingéd creatures' strife.
thus earth's perfect constitution
by God's Sovereign Word was bound
when, by human institution,
His Creation Work He crowned.
Master Potter stooping over,
lump of clay to work of art;
sweet caressing by a Lover,
every feature a la carte.
Sovereign God and servant creature,
Will of God and choice of man:
thence arose man's sinful nature,
choice defying God's Masterplan:
disobedience in the Garden
caused the first dried leaf to fall;
bloodshed by our fallen warden
would the dues for sin forestall.
but man henceforth, from that dark hour,
ill-consumed by vanity,
has not ceased from lustful clamour,
downfall of humanity.
have we nurtured sea and forest
with a tender, stretched-out hand,
or are liberties we've cherished
in defiance of His Command?
have we reveled in self-worship,
appetites insatiable,
chained by dark entrepreneurship,
seared by pride inflatable?
while the heavn’s declare God's Glory,
we have languished, halt and blind,
scorning Sweet Redemption Story,
while lack-wisdom slays mankind.
