The Oracle

I went to the Oracle to ask for answers
She said, Damon, please remain a dreamer
Unbridled anger leads straight to destruction
Seek serene scenes and things for your elevation

If the equation doesn't equate to the desired sum
Have the strength to enact a change of the outcome
Sometimes you'll have to accept what you cannot change
You must discern with wisdom when to brandish fangs

When strange fruit was dangling in the Southern breeze
Your ancestors didn't bow down and live on their knees
You must seize the moment and make the world your stage
Convey something of substance with your words on the page

Channel your rage to create insatiable stanzas
Make them feel elated as if they won bonanzas
I don't have the answers for all the knowledge you crave
Even if you only reach one, that may be a life you save

I said OK. Thank you for this enlightenment
I'll be sure to pay it forward in my testament
Everything was relevant to these days and times
I'll try to compose poems with sublime rhymes
