Desert tree S21.1

At end of living,
when you've been fossilised,
turned terrestrial
vegetation, gestation
unknown, gone cold,
I'll go,
scrawl upon your cocoon,
worship bones,
dance around that firescape, that
sleeping bounty,
raise carved dust, a momentary
warcry -
vast horizon still fleshy,
screaming your name,
greedy,
frame craving
what's no longer nutrition,
worsened when stars arrive,
all welcoming and wide,
lifeblood and statuesque,
making grave this unholy
idol - eyes
locked to rock,
resting on a planet
that was never ours.
