I'M NOT MY POEMS

IRONY

I find it interesting
and somewhat intriguing
and certainly educational
that some readers equate
what I write--subject matter--
with who and what I am
as a real live person.
If I write about fidelity
problems I must be having
relationship issues or problems.
If I write about bisexual, gay,
or other gender issues,
I must be a member of
those groups. If I write
about politics, I must
be affiliated with such
and such party;
if I touch on moral or
religious issues I must
be in a cult or religious group.
As a screenwriter, novelist, I
become "101" identities in my
work, none are me. I am a wordsmith
with an imagination that can travel
the universe. I am a dreamer who
sails the eternal seas and visits
the tombs of the dead.
Searching for new ideas?
I'm not my poems; you
might be yours which is fine
BUT
please don't project what I write
as being the REAL flesh and blood
character, things, or place in
one of my poems.
YES, if you do, hey that's
still okay. However, now you know;
you've heard it straight from
the horse's mouth--
NO, I'm not a horse...at least
not yet!
