The Ballad of Amelia Rose
Twas far from home where bullets fly
and echo 'mid the night
when chance inscribed a lover's sky
above the dour blight.
Her peace had found me wanting more,
remembering the throes.
A window past this horrid war,
My sweet Amelia Rose.
She'd said her heart would bear my name,
inscribed in permanence
as gifted grace set mine aflame
with brilliant radiance.
Her silhouette in stunning guise
from head to dainty toes,
displayed beneath my shuttered eyes,
My sweet Amelia Rose.
Twas dark as night the day they came
with emblems 'pon their chests.
Their orders bore the Führer's name
and blood upon the crest.
Our pallid grip was ripped apart,
a fate we never chose,
And so it was, they stole my heart,
My sweet Amelia Rose.
I prayed to ashen skies in vain,
their truth upon the air
as shackled hope began to wane
beneath the siren's blare.
A lifetime paused in quiet pain
with soul in bleak repose.
I've called to you beneath the rain,
My sweet Amelia Rose.
An urn upon my mantle, rests,
and holds her Polaroid.
An empty space the Reich has blessed
with echoes from the void,
and here I wait to pass away,
remembering her throes,
Just waiting for the joyous day
I join Amelia Rose.....
and echo 'mid the night
when chance inscribed a lover's sky
above the dour blight.
Her peace had found me wanting more,
remembering the throes.
A window past this horrid war,
My sweet Amelia Rose.
She'd said her heart would bear my name,
