Author's Note
The thought occurred to me that the mind is a potentially a parasite unto itself... (A very strange realization.) Perhaps like the source and estuary/ocean of a river, as well as the hydrologic cycle of the self...
Honestly, I find the entire structure of a river to be a form of consciousness.

I can relate to this in the context of talking about a river...kind of.
Honest critique: I like the topic, & what you're trying to get it, more than I do the execution, where I often get lost / feel un-grounded in the extended metaphor. An example: the 4 lines, beginning with 2 past particples, and then 2 gerunds, all of them without something to anchor themselves to

Yes... I absolutely see what you are saying. I think I enjoy leaving spaces for the reader to dwell and perhaps blossom forth, in individualized ways, also, as a writer, this approach is conducive to self exploration and growth, to me. (I do know that this is a tricky proposition.) Oh... And the target audience... (another interesting conversation.)
While I do appreciate more classical based execution, I also enjoy more experimental approaches. (actually, I always preferred the experimental.)

I love the circular beginning & end... much to ponder here! (Although I relate those words more to society as a whole than to individual minds.)
But... is it a parasite, or a symbiote? Or, maybe that's the question.... one is benevolent & cooperative, the other is destructive.... personally, my mind can be both. Hmm...

That is such an awesome observation K. Thank you so much... I think it is a symbiote, until it is not. You know? It was a pretty startling "insight" that I received in this matter... I am going to explore this further.
Oh... Extending this to society... That is very cool. YEs.. I think most things or perhaps all things extend into most or all spheres, in the language of the philosophical/poetical. Therefore, you must be poetical/philosophical and... I must very much like that about you.
