Most plan their exit
expedient forever-farewell
I just have to be different
devising ways for me to stay
It’s just lately, I confess
far fewer reasons to stay

I’m not so different after all

Author's Note
I struggle with my bipolar, and lately the struggle is harder than ever. I deliberately do things to make me want to stay alive - grow plants, create poetry or music, study herbalism to help others. My traditional coping methods are starting to fail me. Yes, I am under medical care with a great support team, but it doesn't make my feelings any less real.

I am glad you have that support system that is there when you need it... this poem hits a nerve and is extremely powerful in it's raw honesty.

These days, it's not easy at all. I've never been this down for so long and so intensely since I was almost a year postpartum with my youngest. But I am fighting as hard as I can, I promise that.

I'm adding you! I've read your profile and we are sooooo similar. I can't work full time but always have crazy projects on the go to keep me moving forwards. Because I cram so much stuff in when I'm well, everybody thinks I'm bipolar. I'm not, but few believe me.

I can understand that - when you appear busy and 'up' no one ever thinks to look for the 'down'. Always move forward, and know I believe you.
