the end is the beginning
I can’t look at you
can’t meet your eyes
can’t say your name
I look away at the ground
my heart is racing
my hands are cold
I breathe slow, to keep calm
I want to smile but I’m too nervous
you fold your arms around me
I’m stiff, for a beat, and then
crumple into you
bury my face in your neck
my body in your body
lips find skin
hands find perfect spots
you pull me into you tight
I pull you into me
tight
the relief
is staggering
we never let go again
can’t meet your eyes
can’t say your name
I look away at the ground
my heart is racing
my hands are cold
I breathe slow, to keep calm
I want to smile but I’m too nervous
you fold your arms around me
I’m stiff, for a beat, and then
crumple into you
bury my face in your neck
my body in your body
lips find skin
hands find perfect spots
you pull me into you tight
I pull you into me
tight
the relief
is staggering
we never let go again
