The 3rd stanza was so rich in visual and feeling and that last line is "drop the mic" status.  Pretty wicked write Kris.

Even if we no longer see it maybe it keeps us company in the forever giving moment too.  Otherwise we know it is waiting and will always return or that it's already there somewhere.

I’m beginning to think being the shadow is way better than being the person. Seems like there’s so much less agony and dealing with life’s crap.
“ I cannot have power over you” I found this an interesting line of thought. As though a process of control can be gained over most things but the shadow always knows therefore power is obsolete. I really appreciated this piece for the reflective gems of thought it gave me. H🌷

Hey Honoria. I am really sorry you are feeling that way and I hope things get better. * Hugs * I can definitely relate to what you are saying. I have been pretty depressed because of things going on and it does feel like it would be easier to be a shadow. Much of the time I already feel like a shadow, just following movements and casting the reflection that I am 'supposed' to for everyone while trying to keep everything together.

The shadow wants to come out and play.  Keep on writing.

Ah yes! give it the slightest bit of light and it will be there in an instant to play with us. Liking this light hearted take on shadows. ;)

Shadows flee every night as Earth's shadow overpowers them to return with morning's light in the trillions...a very evocative piece of imagery ...well done...

Sorry I've been in the shadows of late. Things are much better now. I like this personification of shadows. I really like these two passages,
"A moving dull canvas."
And,
"A mute witness of dark days..."

I am not aware of any contest but I am curious about these other poems on the topic because I do love the shadows and the dark. :)

"strives to keep up with its loyalty" ... poetic gold ... "An involuntarily chosen altar" ... this one arrested me ... truly ... had me snagged on it ...
shades of black and gray" ... nice deviation from cliche ... the last line is haunting ... great write my dear Kristina ... excellent rendering of one of my very favorite poetry themes ...

I am still wondering if you ever found the waterfall. lol ;) But I love how you are sharing your thoughts with me all along the path. Definitely some interesting things to pass through on the way. When shadows combine, that is a very interesting position to be in. So many incredible things happen in those moment.
