The High Road
Elevation is hard
When you’ve been torn apart
From crying and praying
From the emotions that’s raging
You’re crossing your fingers and biting your tongue
You want to go low as air leaves your lungs
The high road is dangerous and constantly changes
The nonsense and chaos like cliffs mixed with mazes
As you proceed the air starts to thin
It’s no easy test to climb higher than sin
The lower you go you lose more of your soul
Deeper and darker into voids of cold
Watching their morals drop
As they crawl through the slop
My blessings can’t stop
I need that view from the top
There’s more light the higher you go
Beholding the bright sight of rose gold
It more up here to see
It more up here to be
You can’t ignore hate
It only grows when you participate
The high road comes with cost
But I pay it to avoid being lost
When you’ve been torn apart
From crying and praying
From the emotions that’s raging
You’re crossing your fingers and biting your tongue
You want to go low as air leaves your lungs
The high road is dangerous and constantly changes
The nonsense and chaos like cliffs mixed with mazes
As you proceed the air starts to thin
It’s no easy test to climb higher than sin
The lower you go you lose more of your soul
Deeper and darker into voids of cold
Watching their morals drop
As they crawl through the slop
My blessings can’t stop
I need that view from the top
There’s more light the higher you go
Beholding the bright sight of rose gold
It more up here to see
It more up here to be
You can’t ignore hate
It only grows when you participate
The high road comes with cost
But I pay it to avoid being lost
