Sea Susurration

When you return from the sea
Be sure to tell me what the sirens sing,
Leave each string upon shingle
As weary ghosts to
Wrist thru’ pearly mist.

We surrender our secrets to the ocean
Because we are the sea
.

Fathom dreamers; boned breakers
Stretch breath across headlands.
Low flying aircraft lay stars
To birth shoals of tomorrow’s radiance.

The sailor, docked now in
Six feet of thick soil,
Feels the warmth of rain
Covering him as spring snow.

Wild dogs devour scraps of
Life on desolate sands,
A barking syllable of some sense, sound
Caught from the bounding chaos of the harbour.

‘fore falling from cliff edge –
Down to memories abandoned
Lie lonely on windswept shore.

We surrender our souls to the ocean
Because we drown in her depths.
