Body in Rebellion

...it’s a funny thing
when the body rebels
against its owner,
arms and legs
wildly changing course
unexpectedly pushing
when you mean to pull,
and letting go
when you mean to hold on;
against intended direction,
legs get the signal to move
a millisecond too late
and suddenly, there is no more
assurance of your capability;
it’s only the moment when
you realize your limbs
now have a mind
of their own
that you begin to wonder
what you could have done
with them
when they were still loyal
to you
