Music Passion Four
Pop Rock
The dresser top radio blares
610 KFRC!
Morning! Up and at ‘em!
dad coaxes patiently.
“Ahhh do a little dance,
make a little love,
get down tonight”
ten year old self
sings along
It’s all about the upbeat mood
not the lyrics of the song
popular music was the way
I made it through
my grammar school day
Fanfare drum beats
sweet keyboard sounds
The Spinners pose my question
“Could it be I’m falling in love?”
belly tingles with the suggestion
Mary, my second grade sweetheart
genesis crush, first hand to my glove
too quickly gave heartbreak its start
first lesson in the mysteries of love
Phoebe’s guitar heralds bliss
her calming voice croons
a ooo yeah yeahy yeahy yeah
my “Poetry Man” heart swoons
tune still like a tender kiss
five decades passed away
Apollo rocket launches
spaceman plants colors
to a pump’n Pretender’s jam
MTV became hot topic
of many high school lunches
bands that were unknown to many
now from the tube scream here I am
did you see that Billy Squire?
It’s bitch’n
that new Roxette is awesome!
Who the hell’s Spandau Ballet
“Work Till You’re Muscle Bound”
Yeah, I’ll work on that today
“Freeze Frame” dude that’s hot
“Addicted To Love” is hotter
I like Pat Benatar a lot
If she were here I’d uh...kiss her
Thank God for my musical history
praise be for long memorized measures
when seems life progresses abysmally
singing songs bring singular pleasure
