Rise Up
Wearing masks,
social distancing,
blessed vaccination,
divine petitioning
like lamb’s blood
smeared upon the door
the scourge from us
may now pass o’er
Entombed too long in our houses
anxious to live once again
need for renewal arouses
desire to move freely ahead
escape the bonds of what’s been
Independent of one’s religion
or unattached theologically
the prospect of resurrection
escaping the grave permanently
Is good reason for celebration
To have a chance to stick around
never again to leave
surrounded by loved ones
those left behind to grieve
and they who long ago
were buried deep under the ground

Yes, what a peculiar year. With spring and renewed hope this vaccine has the opportunity to regain “normalcy”. I wish at any rate. I think this is a wonderfully reflective and thankful poem and I very much enjoyed it! H🌷
