Poker Game

A hand of cards,
In this simple game of poker,
And I’m betting my emotions yet again,
I’ve gone all in,
You’d think I would learn…

But I don’t,
I’ve laid it all out on the table for you,
Waiting to see if you’ll call,
But you don’t…

You neither call nor fold,
But sit there staring me down,
With eyes that sparkle with uncertainty,
Leaving all I’ve given you to sit and wait, laying there upon the table…

It’s been too long,
It’s time I withdraw my bet,
I never thought this love could become a game of vice,
But it has and we’ve grown apart…

So I fold my cards and bow my head,
It’s time I end this game,
It’s going nowhere,
And I leave the table for the millionth time…

But this time I don’t look back,
This time I don’t hear your voice calling me,
This time I don’t feel your touch pulling me,
This time I don’t see the false bewilderment in your eyes,
This time is different,
This time I’m done,
I’m not coming back.

So find someone else to play with,
Someone else to believe your lies,
To drink your poison,
And give you their all…
