contemplating legacies
I came across you
as I sat pensive,
contemplating
then~
it was yesterday
In
one
split
second
I saw your smile,
never changing
exact
in it's brilliance
with all that
forever love
billowing
from every deep recess
The kind of smile
I couldn't help
but reflect back
Infectious, yes
of course ~ in all ways
The warmth,
traveling
as I sit,
still contemplating
struggling
with opening the past
letting it all out
and it engulfing me
head to toe
Will my fragile heart
withstand
and beat
through the heartbreak?
I sit
contemplating
in strength
and grit
and I wonder
if you left me
that
Inherited, deep inside
somewhere I haven't known
or needed, quite yet
Until I came across you
today
... and my legacy screamed out
Needing to be heard

Author's Note
I was cleaning today, and I stumbled across all the paper work and medallions given, for each donation to Lifelink, an organ donor network in FL (https://www.lifelinkfoundation.org/organ-donation/) that my dad set up, so after he passed away, it was all done and his family wouldn't have to handle it. We were all unaware that he wanted this done. It still is surprising to me to think he lives on within 17 - 25 people. Each donation was given documentation of what was donated and how it was used to enhance /save a life, along with a little pin medallion. I had packed it away and forgotten about it.(out of sight out of mind) I read and bawled, not realizing the depth of this intense experience, until I cried myself to sleep. Shut down emotionally, changed forever...without a doubt.

Dear BV,
Wow. Literally speechless.
Oh, who are we kidding, you know I have something to say. Your dad was amazing. I bow to anyone who will consider organ donation. And you’re homage to him, well, that still remains a wow! There’s no way you couldn’t be changed forever after this. Beautiful on every level. H🌷

Yes, my father was lucky, when he was alive, that's very true.

Re. contemplating legacies
Dearest, Lady Blue
You have a way with making me feel so bright inside, so enveloped in the warm, comforting blanket of your words.❣❣
This is perhaps the most breathtaking rendering of a smile than I've ever read,
"exact
in it's brilliance
with all that
forever love
billowing
from every deep recess"
The story you tell about your dad is to me a testament of the love he has for his fellowman...a legacy he passed on to you.
Bravissima, beautiful SQ.🐻💋🐻💋🐻💋🐻

Your kindness is moving and I am so grateful for your thoughtful and heartfelt remarks, Ron.
This was /is a difficult write and I'm still in this weirdo emotional place, so I'll say thank you very very much for everything and leave it there.

Very moving and encouraging poem; especially to read of our personal involvement, which is like amazing, caring, and sweet you. Causes one to think about reaching out, too. Hugs and peace, oral

The emotions that coursed through you upon coming across those memories must have felt overwhelming. You wrote them with the finesse and passion of a great poet. I felt your heart beat through your words.

It truly is a virtuous and selfless act on his behalf so that others may get to live. It's a wonderful tribute to your father and the kindness he showed for fellow human beings. Thank you for sharing, I know this must've been a heart aching write, but this is proof that you and your father are beautiful souls.
Blessings.
Blessings.
