ADDED DAYS

Once long ago
She said to me
Love
With flower of rose 🌹
her petals grew old
foresaken
given man
shame
It hung, clinging
shoulders
Whispering things
The time proven
angers, desolation and contempt
Oh the mini memories
Wince
and smiles of good times
left to rot
As her garden does
The once given care frozen by the glacier of a sometime stare
Oyes... the petals...
now bare...
brown fair stem
caught in a storm

you knew then
that's what I'd be

you said
ghost of a rose
reminded you of me
a lost soul craving love
symbol of a forever
painful reality

so many words said
moments of pain exchanged
like showers of golden coins fallen on pavements

I wish I kept them
as tokens of my time
briefly a beloved
to you

but I left them
as you had
you de-robed and left

today four months
of empty air
space left unoccupied
I walk on nature's beauty
with fists clenched
to honour
promises never to forget
you live on
here, your words still resonate
in my heart and soul
and those who love you.
