Young Earth versus Old Earth
Young Earth Creationists claim that death came as a result of sin - man's sin.
According to this view, everything was "good..very good"(Genesis 1.10,12,18,21,25 and 31) up until sin came into the world.
But the Old Earth view is that physical death preceded sin.
It was spiritual death that came with sin.
We're talking 2 totally different types of death here !!
It seems to me that the YEC view is UNTENABLE based on the hypothetical situation where man didn't sin.
Imagine that Adam and Eve didn't eat the forbidden fruit.
According to this scenario, people and animals would have kept on reproducing but never dying. Man not sinning = animals living forever !!! How absurd !!!
Never dying because sin didn't come into the world.
This state of affairs would produce chaos due to mice and rabbits, etc oversupplying the world.
Seems to me the weakness of the YEC case is obvious.
The world NEEDS (physical) death to save us from the woefulness of
overpopulation of prodigious species.
(I have about 6 mice in my trailer.
Sometimes it seems more like 10).
LSS: YEC is to be seen as among the "childish things" that Paul the apostle advised us to "put away"(1 Corinthians 13.11).
But my purpose in writing this is what??
Why do YEC types insist on sin being the cause of death??
Well if sin brought death, that makes sin more serious than otherwise.
Man's problem is that sin is rather ordinary, not that serious.
So YEC types link sin to death as a way to make sin's seriousness stand out.
I notice myself accommodating sin, making room for it - rationalizing it.
Fortunately, the Second Coming is at hand - what a relief !!
(Russia will take over the world, then Christ defeats the Kremlin - what a relief !!)
