Walking the Road

- Walking the Road -

I was walking in that long-lost garden, when the ancestors of mankind rebelled…
And I was walking by Golgotha when a man they thought was a savior was felled.
I was walking in the wilderness, in the deserts where prophets sought for purity,
And I will be walking at Megiddo, when the apocalyptic flames blaze so horribly.
My feet have tread on the dust of those ancient empires that once I saw rise up,
From out of the nothingness of past ages, as from my emerald chalice I did sup.
One day the road will come to one last glorious end, and I shall then be reborn,
My star will then ascend unto Heaven or Hell, at the side of the ever-rising morn.
If you seek my true name, you will find far too many names for one to ever do…
So instead seek my countless works, for they will endure both faithfully and true.
I was walking down the street today, and I saw the sins that man expertly hides,
And I wondered if God even cared to notice, from where His own majesty abides!

I was walking in the woods, when a beautiful goddess came down for a little chat,
And I was walking within the deepest of shadows, for the longest time after that.
I was walking in the absolute darkness when Lilith came to share with me her love,
And I will be walking in the palaces of Hell, when the Angels tire of me up above…
My feet have tread across the void between the stars, before to Earth I was hurled.
They even walked upon the decks of rugged pirate ships with black flags unfurled!
One day the road must lead me ever home, unto the arms of my true soul’s mate,
My feet will then set forth to walk no more, for I will need no longer have to wait.
If you do seek my company, you will find me to be a companion most passing fair,
I have always been selfless unto others, and for those oft in need I do try to care.
You would not know that once upon a time, in some other life I was so very cruel,
And God set me to my walking because in Heaven He had played me for a fool.

I was walking long in the holiest of places, in many churches, temples, and more,
And I found in them not a bit of solace, only emptiness behind each sacred door.
I was walking in the sanctuaries of secrets, where the hidden brothers often meet,
And I will not say what I learned from them, or whom I went hither to warmly greet.
My feet are weary from all of my walking, but I still have much left that I can give,
I just hope that I find my love soon, before I lose the will to this way forever live.
One day the road will continue by itself, and I shall have bid it one final farewell,
My destiny will have been totally fulfilled, and rung will be that final blessed bell.
If you seek to walk along with me, then maiden I would be ever the most content,
So there need not be any end to that road, if upon it we are together to be sent.
History has not run its’ fullest course, and we can hope to teach humanity a lot,
Tell me if you feel the same as I do, and have given the winding road any thought.
