My hearts aches
One of the greats is gone
His music takes back to a time and place
That goes into the beyond

I know life doesn’t last long
But damn it, that music made me feel
It inspired so many performers
It just had this certain appeal

His fusion, his style
His musical virtuosity is incredible
His body of work is so amazing
It’s simply exceptional

Tonight and for the next several days
I’ll mourn with the rest of the world
Listening to the work that takes to me a place
Where the music lasts forever
