A love letter to my first
I have been distracted with the want of being understood,
Yet you've stood in front of me all along.
Recite my favourite foods and songs, my number and my colour.
I asked you where I should belong and you said underneath the stars.
You think of things that I have said, left forgotten, and yet it's imprinted in your head.
Your bed, I'll lay, restless but safe, as you have mine so many times.
And yes, genetics link us in our design,
Though i'll never find a better match.
My catch, for I've endlessly latched to you,
And live in fear for the day that you slip just out of reach.
Try to teach the best parts of me,
And i hope you see you will always be
my first love, my rose.
Your name is just so perfect for who you are.
I knew you were you when inside my womb,
I bought a tiny monochrome dress.
I-N-dependent, you'd be nothing less,
The flower to soften your prowess,
Can't describe to you how much I'm blessed,
Your feisty, stubborn self.
So my baby, I don't want you to waste a single second of your time.
Life is short; I do not believe in the afterlife.
Enjoy the best parts as they happen.
Embrace every moment.
Relish the random opportunities.
I didn't realise when in paradise I'd never see such beauty again, and it has haunted me.
My faith, now in your eyes, your ears,
Your heart, your dreams.
I cannot wait for the stories that you'll tell me, don't care if no further than the other street,
Just know that I believe.
In you.
Yet you've stood in front of me all along.
Recite my favourite foods and songs, my number and my colour.
I asked you where I should belong and you said underneath the stars.
